Optimization of framed structures subjected to blast loading using equivalent static loads method

In this study, the optimum design of a three-dimensional framed steel structure subjected to blast loading is considered. The main idea research develop practical formulation for optimization problem and study effect including loads in process. formulated minimize total weight American Institution Steel Construction (AISC) strength requirements displacement constraints. variables beams columns are discrete values W-shapes selected from AISC tables. A car carrying 250 lbs trinitrotoluene with 50 ft standoff distance front face modeled as source loading. Pressure–time histories calculated on front, sides, roof, rear faces structure. Since functions not differentiable respect variables, gradient-based algorithms cannot be used solve problem. Therefore, metaheuristic Linear nonlinear dynamic analyses carried out problems solved using equivalent static method (MOESL). MOESL, load transformed into (ESLs) then linear analysis 4-bay × 3-story frames under serviceability It shown that penalty structural substantial designing structures withstand loads.
